Our Work

Our sash and case window work combines traditional joinery with modern glazing and draught-proofing systems, tailored to the property type, condition and conservation context. The Portobello case study below shows a typical journey from initial condition to final finish.

Bay Window Restoration with Single to Double-Glazing Upgrade

Situation: A traditional Portobello bay window had reached end-of-life single glazing, with rattling sashes, soft timber on the lower rails and persistent draughts and condensation behind the bay. Work: We carried out a full restoration of the bay — splicing in new timber where decay had taken hold, overhauling the box frames, renewing cords and balances, and replacing the original single glazing with slimline double-glazed units. Concealed draught-proofing was fitted throughout and the bay was repainted inside and out. Outcome: A warmer, quieter bay window that retains its period proportions and astragal detail, now sliding smoothly and ready for many more decades of use. Read the full case study »
